SUBJECT: End of Watch, K-9 Whiskee
DATE: July 31st, 2025
GENERAL NARRATIVE
It was with great sadness that the Kingsport Police Department lost an active-duty K-9 on Monday, July 28th. K-9 Whiskee began his watch with our department in 2022 with his handler, the first female K-9 Officer for our department, Carrie Peters. Whiskee was a dual-purpose police K-9, trained for patrol work and narcotics detection. Whiskee was diagnosed with a rare cancer, but you’d never know it by watching him during the performance of his duties. Officers from our department and surrounding agencies gathered yesterday for a memorial service and to send him off with K-9 Officer Peters on his final ride home. Our prayers are with Officer Peters during this time.
