Landfill
Kingsport’s landfill is a demolition landfill. This means they can accept anything except household garbage. While the trash items are dumped and buried, brush and pallets are ground up for wood chips. This has helped to expand the estimated life span of our landfill to seventy years.
The landfill fee is $65.00 per ton/pro-rated, with loads under 1,000 pounds $30.00.
Kingsport city residents are allowed up to 12,000 pounds at the landfill per year (July 1 – June 30) to dump at the landfill with no tipping fee. Individuals will need a valid drivers licenses or current water bill for proof of address (must be inside the city limits). The amount dumped will be tracked using the current city address. If an address exceeds 12,000 lbs., tipping fees will apply.
A truck and a trailer is two dumps. No big dump trucks or commercial vehicles can dump free.
