KINGSPORT – Lovedale Drive will be closed from Clinchfield Street to Jackson Placeuntil Friday, December 11, 2009 while a city contractor is working on sewer lines beneath the street. Motorists are asked to seek alternative routes and use extra caution near the work zone.


Kingsport – The holidays are a great time to spend a little quality time with the family and the Kingsport Public Library wants to help put your family in the Christmas Spirit.‚  This Saturday, November 28, the Kingsport Public Library will be hosting two special Christmas Story times.

There will be two chances to bring your family to the Kingsport Public Library for this special Christmas Event.‚  During each event, your family will have the opportunity to listen to stories about Christmas trees, make an ornament for your Christmas tree, and to have punch and cookies.‚  The two story times will be on Saturday, November 28 at the Kingsport Public Library, one at 10:30am and another at 2:30pm.‚  Each should last about two hours.

We encourage you to bring out the whole family to the Kingsport Public Library for this event on Saturday and make this Christmas, a holiday the whole family will enjoy and remember!

KINGSPORT ‚¬ Kingsport City Schools will hold a Brown Bag Lunch event in December to discuss the goals and objectives for the joint planning sessions between the Kingsport and Sullivan County Boards of Education.

The Brown Bag Lunch will be held on Wednesday, December 9 at noon at Jefferson Elementary School. The public is invited to pack a lunch and participate in an informal discussion with Kingsport Board of Education members and Kingsport City School administrators.

The Kingsport and Sullivan County Boards of Education have met twice to set goals and objectives for future facility planning for both school systems. A working team comprised of representatives from both school systems has been organized with a charge to prepare a recommendation for facility use in both systems. The teams recommendation is scheduled to be presented to both Boards in February 2010.
