SUBJECT: Kingsport Police Department Investigating a Stabbing Incident

(Updated Suspect in Custody)

GENERAL NARRATIVE
On 03/30/2015 at approximately 10:40 pm, 22 year old Huey Stanley Jr. of Kingsport arrived at a local hospital suffering from stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead by a hospital doctor. The Kingsport Police Department Detectives Unit responded.

The subsequent investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division revealed that Mr. Stanley had been stabbed during an altercation that occurred in the parking lot of the YMCA located at 1840 Meadowview Parkway in Kingsport.

Detectives spoke to witnesses and the suspect was identified as 21 year old Zachary Morris Gardner of Kingsport. The crime scene was processed and a knife believed to be the murder weapon was located.

On 03/31/2015 at approximately 8:30 am, Zachary Morris Gardner responded to the Kingsport Police Department and turned himself over detectives. Gardner was subsequently arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder and booked into the Kingsport City Jail.

Sullivan County Sessions Court Judge has arraigned Gardner and his bond is currently set at $150,000.

KINGSPORT ‚¬ City Hall, the Renaissance Center, Cultural Arts Offices, Public Library, and Allandale Mansion will all be closed Friday, April 3, 2015, in observance of the Good Friday holiday.

Also, the Senior Center and Public Library will be closed over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Kingsport Aquatic Center and Bays Mountain Park will operate on regular schedules, and there will be no change to garbage, trash and recycling schedules.

All garbage, trash and recycling crews will run their regular schedule on Good Friday.

In addition, the Demolition Landfill will be open on a regular schedule Friday and Saturday.

KINGSPORT – The southbound lane of Fort Henry Drive heading towards Colonial Heights will be closed on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow for a water line valve repair. The closure will be near Murphy Oil Company, between South Road and Thornton Drive. Motorists are urged to take caution and plan ahead, avoiding the work zone entirely if possible.

KINGSPORT – The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department will host an Easter Egg Roll at Allandale Mansion on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. ‚¬ 1:00 P.M.‚  This FREE event is for children 10 and under.

KINGSPORT – A joint project with Kingsport Public Works and the Tennessee Department of Transportation will bring will bring traffic pattern changes and lane closures to the West Stone Drive bridge over the Holston River on Tuesday, March 31st, and Wednesday, April 1. Road work will begin each day at 9 a.m. and continue as long as possible each day with the goal of completing the project in two days. On Tuesday, TDOT will mill the existing pavement of all four lanes on the bridge deck, with city crews then beginning repaving work on Wednesday. As this is a congested corridor at peak hours, motorists are strongly advised to plan ahead and seek alternative routes whenever possible.

On 03/27/2015 at 9:57 PM, The Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to McDonald’s located at 4300 W. Stone Dr. on a report of a white male that had been shot. The shooting did not occur at McDonald’s however the victim drove there to seek assistance. The victim was unable to communicate and was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment and at this time his condition is unknown. The K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division is in the preliminary stages of this investigation. Detectives are attempting to determine the precise location where the incident occurred with many other pertinent questions remain unanswered; therefore, no further information will be released at this time.

KINGSPORT – Brookside Drive will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 to allow for sewer inspection and maintenance. This work is being done in preparation for repaving work later this spring.

As part of the inspection process, Brookside will be closed from East Stone Drive to the entrance to Indian Path Hospital. As always, motorists should use caution in and around all work zones

SUBJECT: Kingsport Police Investigating Alleged Stabbing Incident
DATE: March 27, 2015
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On March 26, 2015 at approximately 9:00 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives were called to the Holston Valley Medical Center Emergency Room in Kingsport, in reference to an alleged stabbing incident. Officers spoke with a male victim who was being treated for non-life threatening knife wounds. He had been transported to the hospital by a family member. The victim has since been discharged from the hospital.

The K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division is in the preliminary stages of this investigation. Detectives are still in communication with the victim, attempting to determine the exact time of the incident and the precise location where the alleged incident occurred. Many other pertinent questions remain unanswered; therefore, no further information will be released at this time.

SUBJECT: Debit Card in Wallet Stolen at Johnson City Night Club Used in Fraudulent Kingsport Shopping Spree

GENERAL NARRATIVE
On February 28, 2015 at approximately 2:30 AM, a woman’s wallet was stolen while she was at the Electric Cowboy in Johnson City. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 4:45 AM, a debit card that had been in that wallet was used to make a fraudulent purchase for $28.74 at IHOP, located at 1201 East Stone Drive in Kingsport.

Less than an hour later, the same debit card was used to make two back-to-back fraudulent purchases ($382.16 and $109.41 respectively) at Wal-Mart, located at 3200 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. A third fraudulent purchase for $487.08 was attempted at the same Wal-Mart, but in that instance the card was declined. Among the items purchased at Wal-Mart was an X-Box One video game system.

Immediately following the Wal-Mart purchases, the debit card was used for a fraudulent purchase of $60.23 at an area Exxon/Mobil gas station.

Three black male suspects were captured by video surveillance cameras while they were conducting the Wal-Mart transactions. Several photos of these individuals are included in this release. Also included is a photo of a white 4-door sedan in which the trio was traveling at the time. The vehicle has a tinted glass moon roof and appears to possibly be a Nissan Altima.
