The mission of the Finance Department is to provide general sound stewardship of the City’s fiscal affairs and general accounting supervision over the City’s property, assets and disposition thereof.

The Finance Department consists of the following divisions:
The Finance Department oversees the security and management of the City’s financial and property interests and the collection of most revenues, including property and business taxes. The department plans and executes the issuance of bonds and other financing mechanisms available to municipalities. The Finance Department strives to ensure proper management of City funds, as well as timely and accurate reporting of the City’s financial position. The Finance Department is located in City Hall, 415 Broad Street. Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Accounting includes Accounts Payable, which is responsible for paying bills, and Payroll.
Customer Service is responsible for the billing and collection of property taxes,utilities (water and sewer) as well as issuing business licenses.
The Records Management Division is responsible for the filing and storing of the official records and transcripts of the City.
