Technical Rescue Team
The Kingsport Fire Department saw a need to become a specialized rescue organization around the end of the 1990’s. Some members were already trained and worked to build a specialized team to respond throughout the city and our region. We worked with the Kinsport Lifesaving Crew to get training and equipment through Homeland Security Funds to build the team. The department now has 21 members on the rescue team. They do water, trench, high angle and mountain rescue as well as vehicle rescue and so on. As the a lead agency for the Tennessee Task Force for Homelnad Security Distrisct 1, the KFD Firefighters train continually to prepare for the different rescue scenarios that they may face in our region.
