Due to a waterline break at the city’s water filtration plant early Wednesday morning, a large area of Kingsport water customers possibly experienced a loss in water service.

Crews have repaired the waterline and are currently working to restore service. Everyone in the affected area is anticipated to have service restored Wednesday afternoon.

Kingsport officials have communicated with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) during this event. TDEC officials have determined, out of an abundance of caution, a public notice of a boil water advisory is necessary for the affected customers until further notice. We anticipate it being lifted tomorrow afternoon pending water sample results.

After clicking the link, click on magnifying glass icon in the bottom right of the map, this will pop up a window for you to type in your address. If your location comes up and has hash marks on it, it means you are in the affected area and should follow the boil advisory. If your location does not have the hash marks, you are not included in the affected area.

Report Non-Emergency
