A section of Reservoir Road, near Glen Alpine Road, will be closed beginning March 6 and will remain so for the next 6 to 8 weeks. The closure is necessary to allow a contractor to replace a failing storm culvert located underneath the roadway.
GRC Construction will be conducting the work on behalf of the City of Kingsport. The scope of the work includes installing a 43-foot culvert and repaving a 1,346 square foot section of the road. The cost of the project is approximately $212,300.
“We’re going to re-angle and reconstruct how the stream is going to go under the road,” said Project Manager Alys Dobbins. “They’ll rebuild that portion of the road, redo part of the waterline and once complete, the water will flow much better through that area.”
This section of Reservoir Road will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project, though residents living in this area will have access to their property.
Detour signs will be erected, and motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes for the duration of the project.
For more information about the project call 423-343-9845.
