| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On December 24, 2019 at approximately 8:45 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Interstate 26 at mile-marker 3 (Meadowview Parkway exit) in Kingsport. Due to the seriousness of the crash, the K.P.D. Traffic Unit was called to the scene. Their resultant investigation yielded the following:
A white 2004 Ford Expedition full-size 4-door sport utility vehicle, driven and solely occupied by a juvenile (16 year old Hispanic female of Kingsport), was lawfully traveling east in the eastbound lanes of I-26. Meanwhile, for unknown reasons, a beige 1996 Lincoln Town Car full-size 4-door sedan, driven and solely occupied by Orval L. Quisenberry (98 year old white male of Kingsport), was unlawfully traveling west in the eastbound lanes on the wrong side of I-26. The two vehicles collided in a head-on impact. The juvenile driver was transported by Sullivan County EMS to an area medical facility for treatment of incapacitating but non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Quisenberry was killed in the crash. This crash remains under active investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit. As such, no additional details can or will be released at this time. |
