| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On the morning of August 13, 2017, a homeowner on Cliffside Road in Kingsport reported a residential burglary that had occurred the night before, during which a safe was stolen. The safe contained various and assorted valuables to include guns, jewelry, her checkbook, and a significant quantity of cash and coins.
The victim’s checking account was immediately closed. However, also in the safe when it was stolen was a credit card that she rarely used and did not initially realize was missing. On August 29, 2017, the victim received her credit card statement and found four unauthorized charges, for a total of over $2,700, made fraudulently at Home Depot between August 13 and 19, 2017. On September 11, 2017, the victim received notification from her bank that six of her checks were passed, for a total value in excess of $1,000, at Walmart between August 16 and 20, 2017. Further investigation by Detectives in the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division turned up surveillance video footage of a sole white male adult suspect, not only making the charges at Home Depot, but also passing the checks at Walmart. A photo of that suspect taken from some of that footage has been included in this release.
