Behind the Book series returns to Kingsport Public Library
The Behind the Book series returns to the Kingsport Public Library next week, featuring a discussion with author Pamela Michaels.
Michaels will be discussing her newest book Devil of a Dilemma. This free event will take place on September 12 at 6 p.m. in the library’s first floor auditorium (400 Broad Street).
Michaels lives in Gate City with her boyfriend and is a mother of five children. Her mother – Sharon Michaels – encouraged her to write when she was a child and Devil of a Dilemma is her first novella. She has also previously published a poetry book with her mother and a journal for reflection or study.
A synopsis of Devil of a Dilemma:
An ordinary trip to New York to sell the crop turns into a once in a lifetime blessing or curse when an aging family man has a lot on his plate with running the tobacco farm and raising his twins with the help of his always dependable wife and the concerns over his elderly parents.
But his thoughts begin to turn to the “What-if’s” in life. Kane Metclaf loves playing pool and had dreams of an NBA career before life got in the way. But the old man he encounters in the dank pool room in NYC may give him the chance he never thought he would have.
What he doesn’t realize though, is that for every up there is a down and for every dream there is a sacrifice. How will he choose between his family’s very existence and his own mobility in exchange for all his dreams to come true? How would YOU choose?
The Behind the Book series features discussions with regional authors and illustrators to find out more about their books. The series is sponsored by the Kingsport Public Library and the Friends of the Kingsport Public Library.
