| A driver in a November 2013 fatal traffic crash on Lynn Garden Drive has been charged and arrested.
On November 30, 2013 at approximately 4:15 PM, a teen driver was killed in a three vehicle collision on Lynn Garden Drive in Kingsport. The crash occurred when a 1991 Chevrolet S-10, driven by Jerry Wayne Patrick, made an illegal U-Turn, striking the teenager’s 1989 GMC Jimmy in the process, sending it into the path of an oncoming 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by Elesha H. Byrd. Ms. Byrd was also seriously injured in the crash. On February 12, 2014 at approximately 2:00 PM, Mr. Patrick came to the Kingsport Police Department and voluntarily turned himself in on a warrant obtained by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit. His charges include: 1) Criminally Negligent Homicide 2) Illegal U-Turn on a Hillcrest 3) Failure to Exercise Due Care He is presently being held in the Kingsport City Jail on a $3,000 bond.
