SUBJECT:		Trio in Custody in Two Separate Incidents at Same CVS Pharmacy

GENERAL NARRATIVE
Three suspects are in custody in two separate incidents that occurred at the same pharmacy in the past two days. On May 31, 2015 at approximately 1:45 PM, a female suspect entered CVS Pharmacy, located at 5215 Memorial Boulevard in Kingsport. The suspect approached the pharmacy counter, threatened that she had a gun, and demanded a specific type of prescription medication. Pharmacy personnel complied with her demands, and she fled the scene with an undisclosed type and quantity of prescription medication. During the course of the investigation, K.P.D. Detectives developed Rebecca S. Smith as the suspect in question. At approximately 10:15 PM that evening, K.P.D. Patrol Officers located Ms. Smith at a residence in the 1600 block of Virginia Avenue. Some of the stolen medications were recovered at the time of her arrest. She was charged with Aggravated Robbery and transported to the Kingsport City Jail. On June 1, 2015 at approximately 5:45 AM Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to the same CVS Pharmacy in reference to an alarm. Responding officers located a large hole in the rear concrete block wall of the business. A sledge hammer that had apparently been used to knock the hole in the wall was found at the scene. Further investigation revealed that an undisclosed type and quantity of prescription medication had been stolen from the business. Investigating Officers immediately began searching for a blue Chevrolet Cavalier that was believed to have been the getaway vehicle used in the burglary. At approximately 6:00 AM the vehicle was spotted traveling on Fall Creek Road just off Memorial Boulevard. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop and identify the occupants as Jeremy R. Basham and Rachael H. Deel. The stolen medication, a set of two-way radios, and additional burglary tools were found in the vehicle. Mr. Basham and Ms. Deel were charged with Burglary, Theft over $500, and Possession of Burglary Tools and transported to the Kingsport City Jail.
