KPD e-News Release: Four Juveniles in Custody in Connection with Back-to-Back Burglaries to Kingsport Elementary School
GENERAL NARRATIVE |
On May 26, 2014 at 3:00 PM, George Washington Elementary School, located at 1100 Bellingham Drive in Kingsport, was burglarized. While the suspects were inside the school, they stole and ate popsicles, and removed a hamster from its cage. It is presently unknown if the school pet was actually stolen, or merely allowed to roam free throughout the school.
The following day, on May 27, 2014 at 6:00 PM, George Washington Elementary School was again burglarized. This time, the suspects stole candy. The subsequent investigation, which included a review of school surveillance video footage, led detectives to the same group of suspects in both crimes. On May 29, 2014 Kingsport Police Detectives took four juveniles into custody for their involvement in these burglaries. The suspects were all males, ages 12, 12, 14, and 15 years of age. The investigation into these crimes is still open and active; therefore, no further details will be released at this time. |
