Kingsport hosts Family Health & Fitness Day
Start your summer vacation off right with a morning filled with fun, outdoor activities for children and teenagers to enjoy.
Kingsport’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Family Health & Fitness Day on June 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Healthy Kingsport has partnered with the city for this event and will be providing water that day.
This free event takes place at Borden Park community building (901 Lamont Street) and includes a variety of outdoor activities including a warm-up stretch, a run through a playground obstacle course, basketball lay-up drills, disc golf and tennis.
Kingsport’s event is being held in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association – a non-profit organization dedicated to building strong, vibrant and healthy communities through the power of parks and recreation. The NRPA created Family Health & Fitness Day, celebrated on the second Saturday in June each year, to promote the importance of parks and recreation.
If you can’t make it to Borden Park at that time, the city encourages you to visit any of our local parks that day to maybe have a picnic or just to enjoy the nice weather. If you do, please post a selfie of you and your family on social media and tag Kingsport Parks and Recreation and #NRPAFamilyHealthDay.
