Connect with the Kingsport Public Library this week
The Kingsport Public Library is encouraging everyone to visit the library this week in recognition of National Public Library Week. First sponsored in 1958, National Public Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country.
This year’s observance takes place during the week of April 3 and is an excellent time to “check out” all of the resources you can find within the Kingsport Public Library, including thousands of fiction and non-fiction books, audio books, DVDs, video games, 3-D printers and so much more.
The theme for this year’s observance is “Connect with your library.” Now is the perfect time to think about the essential role libraries, librarians and other workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities.
During the pandemic, library workers continued to exceed their communities’ demands and adapt resources and services to meet their users’ needs in these challenging times. Whether people visit in person or virtually, libraries offer endless opportunities to transform lives through education and lifelong learning.
This National Library Week, the public can show their appreciation and support for libraries by visiting the library’s website (www.kingsportlibrary.org), following them on social media and using the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek.
