Repairs scheduled for Westfield Drive bridge

City News

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has announced the Westfield Drive bridge will be under repair for the next six months with the contractor scheduled to mobilize on Monday (February 2).

The Westfield Drive bridge stretches over Interstate 26 approximately halfway between Rock Springs Road and Interstate 81.

TDOT awarded the contract to Southern Constructors for $1.48 million, and a pre-construction conference was held January 22. The contractor plans to begin construction sign installation and temporary traffic signals for Westfield Drive on February 2.

The repair work includes expansion joint repair, parapet wall repair, deck repair, general concrete repair, epoxy injection, epoxy overlay, texture coating surfaces, and miscellaneous other items.

This bridge repair contract will require lane closures on both Westfield Drive and I-26. The impacts to traffic on I-26 will be weekend only lane closures.

Currently, the first weekend closure is not scheduled until mid-March. The initial work will mainly take place on Westfield Drive. The contract completion date for this project is July 31, 2026.

Motorists travelling in the vicinity of this project are urged to use caution and be on the lookout for workers in the work zones.
