| SUBJECT: | Kingsport Police Release Suspect Photo in August Package Store Burglary | ||
| DATE: | November 3, 2016 | ||
| CASE #: | 16-016849 | ||
| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On the morning of August 9, 2016, employees of an adjacent business contacted the Kingsport Police Department after discovering a burglary to Allandale Package Store, located at 4528 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. The burglary was apparently perpetrated sometime during the preceding overnight hours.
The subsequent investigation, which included a review of store surveillance video, revealed that a lone suspect broke out an exterior glass door to gain access to the interior of the business. Once inside, the suspect stole ten (10) bottles of vodka with a combined value of $100 and fled the scene. While the surveillance video was of extremely poor clarity, Detectives are releasing a fuzzy image of the suspect in hopes that someone might potentially recognize him. Anyone who does, is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link: https://www.kingsporttn.gov/city-services/police-department/contact-us |

| DATE: | November 3, 2016 | ||
| CASE #: | 16-023357 (ECU Branch on West Ravine Road)
16-023358 (ECU Branch on Memorial Boulevard) |
||
| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On September 27, 2016 at approximately 10:50 AM, an unidentified male suspect mysteriously deposited a check into another person’s account at an Eastman Credit Union branch, located at 216 West Ravine Road in Kingsport. Two minutes later, the same individual withdrew $500 in cash from the same account, using the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) outside of the same branch.
That same day, the same suspect withdrew an additional $200 in cash from the same account, using the ATM outside of a different ECU branch, located at 3104 Memorial Boulevard in Kingsport. Naturally, the original $700 check that was deposited to cover these two fraudulent withdrawals was returned due to the account being closed. The suspect was captured on surveillance video during at least one of the transactions, with his photograph taken from that footage being included with this release. Anyone who recognizes him is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. | SUBJECT: | Suspects Sought in Cloned Credit Card Caper | ||
| DATE: | November 3, 2016 | ||
| CASE #: | 16-016494 | ||
| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On August 4, 2016, two individuals used another person’s debit card account information to make a purchase of $206.94 at T.J. Maxx, located at 2003 North Eastman Road in Kingsport. | NEWS RELEASE | |||
| SUBJECT: | Shoplifting Suspect Involved in Assault on Off-Duty Deputy and Hit and Run While Fleeing Scene | ||
| DATE: | October 27, 2016 | ||
| CASE #: | 16-023114 | ||
| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On October 24, 2016 at approximately 1:45 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers were called to Advance Auto Parts, located at 1121 East Stone Drive in Kingsport, to investigate what initially began as a shoplifting incident but quickly spiraled into much more. The subsequent investigation revealed the following:
An unknown white male suspect entered the store empty-handed and left shortly thereafter carrying an Optima battery ($215.00 value) for which he had not paid. An Advance Auto Parts employee promptly followed the suspect out of the store to confront him. By sheer coincidence, an off-duty Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was a customer in the store at the time. Seeing the commotion, he elected to step in and assist. The deputy approached the suspect in the parking lot as he got into a vehicle. The deputy identified himself as a law enforcement officer and reached inside the vehicle to turn off the ignition. Simultaneously, the suspect sped away in the vehicle, dragging the deputy a short distance alongside it. The deputy sustained some minor scrapes and bruises during the incident. As the suspect fled, his vehicle also struck an uninvolved and unoccupied vehicle parked in the lot. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white Honda Civic or similarly styled vehicle. It had black rims and a loud exhaust note. There is a possibility of minor damage to the front driver’s side corner of the vehicle as a result of the collision. There was also an unidentified female passenger in the suspect’s vehicle at the time of the incident. Surveillance photos of the suspect entering the store empty-handed and leaving the store carrying the battery have been included with this release. There is also a photo included of what is believed to be the suspect’s vehicle as it was captured by a traffic camera while being driven away. Anyone who recognizes this suspect or his vehicle, or who may know the identity of him or his female passenger, or who may have any additional information which may assist Detectives with this investigation is asked to contact the K.P.D.
