SUBJECT: Kingsport Police Respond To Shooting in Lynn Garden Community (Update)

GENERAL NARRATIVE
Update: As a result of their investigation, detectives learned that Daniel Cano-Preciado suffered gunshot wounds as a result of the incident. He was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect was identified as Michael Garcia. Garcia was arrested at the scene, and has been charged with 1st degree murder. He is being held at the Kingsport City Jail with no bond, pending arraignment. This investigation is still ongoing.
As previously released: On September 14th, 2023, at approximately 11:48 am, Kingsport Police responded to the area of Akers Avenue after a report of shots fired. A person was found on scene suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. That person was taken to a local hospital for treatment. One suspect was found on scene and was detained. This is an active and ongoing investigation. More details will be released at a later time.
