Milligan University returns for Challenger League Basketball program
Kingsport Parks and Recreation is once again partnering with the Milligan University Women’s Basketball team to offer a special basketball program later this month.
The event is the A.S.P.I.R.E. Challenger League Basketball program, and it will be held at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex (301 Louis Street) on October 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free and open to kids and adults with differing physical and intellectual abilities.
A.S.P.I.R.E. programs (Adaptive: Sports Programs Inclusive Recreation Experiences) are for people with disabilities or physical limitations and are designed to ensure fair and equal competition among participants.
During the Challenger League program, participants will learn and practice the basics of basketball, including shooting, dribbling and ball handling.
“We’re thrilled about the Milligan University Women’s Basketball players coming back to Kingsport to participate in this program,” said Program Coordinator Renee Ensor. “The players always make sure it’s just a fun day of basketball.”
Though the event is free, you can register to let Kingsport Parks and Recreation officials know approximately how many people will be showing up. Participants can also show up the day of the event and join in on the fun.
