Kingsport Parks and Recreation offers Inclusive Walking Club
Kingsport Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce its new Inclusive Walking Club for the community – a program aimed at encouraging health and wellness while exploring a different city park each week.
Enjoy the outdoors, stay active and connect with others in this welcoming walking program. The club will meet on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning August 5 and continuing through October 28.
On the first day (August 5), participants will meet at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex (301 Louis Street). Staff will then reach out each week to registered participants and inform them at which park to meet.
Participants will explore a different Kingsport park every week while enjoying light exercise, some fresh air and the opportunity to foster and build new friendships. The program is free and open to participants of all ages.
The walking club is part of Kingsport Parks and Recreation’s R.I.S.E. (Recreational Inclusive Sports and Experiences) program. Adaptive programs are for people with disabilities or physical limitations and are designed to ensure fair and equal treatment among participants.
