Kingsport Parks and Recreation hosting Go Skateboarding Day
Skateboarding continues to grow in popularity across the country, not only among the younger generation, but older folks are joining the hobby in greater numbers.
But skateboarding is more than just a fun hobby; it offers good exercise, improved balance, an emphasis on individuality and an excuse to go outside. So, grab your board, knee pads and helmet and come down to the Scott Adams Memorial Skatepark (2106 Brickyard Park Drive) on June 21.
The Kingsport Parks and Recreation is hosting a “Go Skateboarding Day” on that day, encouraging folks of all ages to come out and enjoy an afternoon of skating with like-minded skateboarders.
In addition, parks and recreation officials are inviting people to share their pictures from the skatepark on social media.
The 10,000 square foot skatepark offers a variety of features, including two bowls, a four-stair set with up-down rails, two quarter pipes, an up-down hubba ledge and a five-stair with a down rail and pyramid.
Go Skateboarding Day is free, and no registration is required. For information about other events, activities and programs offered by Kingsport Parks and Recreation, please visit www.kingsportparksandrecreation.org.
