Public input requested for Long-Range Transportation Plan
The Kingsport Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) is updating its Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) to a 2050 horizon year. As part of this process, the MTPO is inviting the public to answer questions and offer concerns about the transportation challenges facing our region.
Residents are encouraged to visit the following website – www.engagekmtpo.com, which explains the city’s LRTP and its importance to our region, and offers a link to the public survey where participants can leave their comments.
The public survey will remain open through April 5.
“Your questions and concerns do matter to us when crafting our long range transportation plan,” said Lesley Christian, MTPO Coordinator for the City of Kingsport. “The public’s input will guide future improvements and ensure the plan reflects the needs of everyone who lives, works and travels throughout our region.”
Whether you drive, bike, walk, or take transit, transportation affects all of us every day. It shapes how we travel to work and school, get to medical appointments, reach shopping destinations, and participate in social events or recreational activities. A reliable and connected transportation system makes these daily trips safer, easier, and more efficient for everyone.
Transportation also plays a critical role in supporting local businesses and the regional economy by keeping goods and services moving smoothly. By planning for future needs, the LRTP helps ensure the transportation network continues to provide safe travel options, strengthens community connections, and supports long-term economic growth across the region.
