DATE: March 7th, 2024
CASE #: 24-003727
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On March 7th, 2024, at approximately 12:15 pm, Kingsport Officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Memorial Blvd. near Harbor Chapel Road in Kingsport. Officers investigating the crash determined that a white 2018 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by Wei L Delatte (36 years of age of Kingsport) and occupied by three juveniles, was traveling north on Harbor Chapel Road and was turning left on Memorial Blvd. A gray 2010 Honda Accord driven by Doyle Hensley (90 years of age of Kingsport) was traveling east on Memorial Blvd.
The gray Honda driven by Hensley failed to stop at the red light on Memorial Blvd. at Harbor Chapel Road and struck the front bumper of the Toyota Sienna with its front bumper. The force of the collision pushed the Honda Accord across Memorial Blvd. where it came to rest pinned against the guard rail by the Toyota Sienna.
There were no reported injuries from Delatte and her three juvenile passengers.
Hensley was transported from the scene by EMS and was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital for an abdominal injury. Hensley was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
