Christmas in Kingsport officially kicks off this weekend with a full day of shopping, holiday decorations, an evening parade, and the annual tree lighting event at Church Circle. It’s everything you need to get you and your family into the Christmas spirit.
This is Kingsport is partnering with the Downtown Kingsport Association to bring you the best in holiday events throughout the month of December. And planning your activities is easy, just visit ThisIsKingsport.com and check out the Christmas in Kingsport page.
The excitement kicks off this Saturday (December 3) with the Jingle & Mingle Shop & Hop in downtown Kingsport from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Start your day off by “shopping and hopping” from store to store, grabbing a bite to eat and getting ready for the annual Christmas Parade.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. and will start at the corner of Clinchfield Street and W. Center Street, proceeding down Center to Cherokee Street, then to Sullivan Street through Church Circle and ending at Clay Street.
Expect to see plenty of decorated vehicles and floats, marching bands and even a visit from Santa Claus. Immediately after the parade, be sure to gather around Church Circle for the lighting of the Christmas Tree at 7:45 p.m. Candles will be given out (and lit) and everyone is encouraged to join in the singing of Christmas carols. | NEWS RELEASE | ||||
| SUBJECT: | K.P.D. Detectives Investigating Discovery of Two Deceased Adults | |||
| DATE: | November 29, 2022 | |||
| CASE #: | 22-023650 | |||
| GENERAL NARRATIVE | ||||
| On November 29, 2022 shortly after 9:00 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to a residence in the 1900 block of Idle Hour Road in Kingsport in reference to the discovery of two deceased adults who were found by a family member.
The decedents were identified as husband and wife, Michael S. Warner and Loretta J. Warner. The couple resided together at the home where they were discovered. Based upon the preliminary investigation, both individuals appear to have died from gunshot wounds. Both decedents will be sent for autopsies to be completed by the Medical Examiner at the East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City. This appears to have been an isolated incident, completely contained to this residence, and there is absolutely no reason to believe there is any danger to the general public. The associated investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Unit remains ongoing. Due to the active status of this investigation, no further details can or will be released at this time. Additional information will be shared as it develops, but only at an appropriate point in the investigation. |
