Kingsport’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a one-day Glow Pickleball event later this month at the V.O. Dobbins Community Center.
Glow events are when participants wear neon or white clothes, the lights to a gym are turned off and the black lights are turned on. Everyone then “glows” in the dark while running around and playing a game.
The pickleball event will take place on March 19 and include two sessions: the first is from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. and the second is from 9 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Each event is open for 24 people.
Pickleball experience is needed and the event is open for anyone ages 13 and over. The cost is $5 per person and pre-registration is required.

| The following is a reissuance of an earlier alert last posted on February 16, 2022. This juvenile continues to be missing. Foul play is still not suspected.
As previously released: The Kingsport Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in locating missing juvenile, Stephen McGovern. While foul play is not suspected, Detectives are making every possible effort to locate him. Stephen is a 16 year old white male juvenile. He is 5 feet 8 inches in height and weighs 145 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen on April 16, 2021. His photograph is included below. Anyone with any information regarding his current whereabouts is asked to contact the K.P.D. He has reportedly not been seen or heard from since January 17, 2022. While there is no known reason to suspect foul play at this time, due to information shared with investigators regarding his personal history, there is cause to be concerned for his overall health and welfare. Mr. Schaefer is a 39 year old white male adult with brown hair and blue eyes. He does not have a permanent residence, but was last known to be staying at the Super 8 Motel on Lynn Garden Drive and has been known to frequent Hunger First on East Center Street. His photograph has been included in this release. Anyone who sees him or may possibly know his current whereabouts is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D.
