Kingsport offering Inclusion Camp this summer
Kingsport Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce its new Inclusion Specialty Camp is being offered this June.
The week-long camp takes place June 15 through June 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex (301 Louis Street). Open to participants ages 14 and older. Registration is $50 per city resident and $60 per non-city resident.
Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of inclusive and adaptive activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities. From arts and crafts to sports, music, and beyond, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
“At our camp, we believe in creating an environment where all campers, regardless of ability, background, or identity, can come together to learn, grow, and have fun,” said Program Leader Matthew Hensley. “Our inclusive approach ensures that every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to participate fully in all activities.
The camp is part of Kingsport Parks and Recreation’s A.S.P.I.R.E. (Adaptive: Sports Programs Inclusive Recreation Experiences) program. Adaptive programs are for people with disabilities or physical limitations and are designed to ensure fair and equal competition among participants.
