NFL FLAG football returns to Kingsport
Kingsport Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the return of an NFL FLAG football league to the Model City. NFL FLAG is the official flag football program of the National Football League, which consists of 750,000 youth athletes in more than 1,800 leagues in all 50 states.
Registration is now open through June 17 for the second season of NFL FLAG football. Kingsport Parks and Recreation is again partnering with the Kingsport Boys and Girls Club to make this league a reality.
The league is open to youth ages 5 to 15 with leagues consisting of:
- Bantam Co-Ed (ages 5-6)
- Pee Wee Boys (ages 7-8)
- Pee Wee Girls (ages 7-9)
- Rookie Boys (ages 9-10)
- Junior Boys (ages 11 to 12)
- Junior Girls (ages 10 to 12)
- Intermediate Boys (13-15)
- Intermediate Girls (13-15)
The registration cost is $60 per child (which includes the jersey and flags). Practices begin the last week in July with games beginning in early August. Practices and games will take place at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex, the Lynn View Community Center and the Boys and Girls Club.
“Flag football is the perfect introduction to football fundamentals and a great opportunity for tackle athletes to refine their technique in the offseason,” said Program Administrator Nate Williams. “The league is designed to give boys and girls of all abilities a chance to learn, play—and have a blast doing it.”
NFL FLAG is the largest flag football league in the United States and the only league where players can wear official NFL gear. NFL FLAG leagues are no contact leagues so boys and girls of all ages and skill levels can learn to play and have lots of fun doing so.
