Kingsport Cultural Arts announces Mobile Art Classes
For a second year in a row, Kingsport Cultural Arts is offering free mobile art classes, where children and teens can learn a new crafting skill and be creative in a safe and family-friendly environment.
The classes will be held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Riverview Community Room at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex on the following dates:
- Grades 1st through 4th: October 5, 12, and 19.
- Grades 5th through 8th: October 6, 13, and 20.
Elementary and middle school students will be instructed by a different teacher each week, introducing them to sewing, weaving and wet felting. The classes will repeat after the first of the year, with an option for students in grades 9th through 12th to participate in February 2027.
“We’re excited to be able to bring these Mobile Art Classes back for a second year,” said Program Leader Linore Huss. “And the idea behind the program remains the same – to offer free art classes to the community and increase accessibility for children and teens.”
The Mobile Art classes are a grant-funded initiative organized by Kingsport Cultural Arts and the City of Kingsport. This program is funded under an Arts Education Project Support grant from the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Arts Commission.
