B Shift: Assistant Chief Jessie Bishop

Bio:

Assistant Chief Bishop began his career with the Kingsport Fire Department (KFD) in 2004 and has progressed through the ranks of the department into his current leadership role as Assistant Chief and Shift Commander for B-Shift.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from East Tennessee State University and a Master’s Degree in Fire Executive Leadership from Columbia Southern University. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s prestigious Executive Fire Officer Program, reflecting his commitment to continued professional development and leadership within the fire service.

Throughout his career, Assistant Chief Bishop has contributed to numerous departmental committees and initiatives focused on improving the organization and its service to the community. In addition to his responsibilities as Shift Commander, he serves as KFD’s Accreditation Manager, coordinating the department’s accreditation and continuous improvement efforts. He also serves as the department’s Technical Rescue Team Coordinator, providing leadership and oversight for the department’s specialized technical rescue capabilities.

With more than two decades of fire service experience, Assistant Chief Bishop continues to focus on organizational excellence, professional development, operational readiness, and providing high-quality emergency services to the Kingsport community.
