Spring reading challenge at the Kingsport Public Library
Think you can read more than our librarians in the month of April? Are you up for the reading challenge?
During the month of April, the staff at the Kingsport Public Library want to challenge the community to read more minutes than they do. Last year, our librarians read 38,113 minutes while the community read 47,057 minutes.
This year, our librarians are determined to beat the community.
“The community stepped up last year and managed to beat us, so this year we’re going to read our hardest to make sure that doesn’t happen again,” said Library Manager Chris Markley.
Reading challenges are good in many ways – they encourage literacy, they get folks talking about books and can help bring the community together.
It’s easy to participate in the challenge. Simply register each family member and log your reading minutes at kingsportlibrary.beanstack.org or through the Beanstack mobile app. The more you read, the greater the chance the community will read more than the librarians.
