NEWS RELEASE | |||
SUBJECT: | Kingsport Police Attempting to Identify Person of Interest in Case Involving Stolen and Fraudulently Used Debit Card | ||
DATE: | January 4, 2017 | ||
CASE #: | 16-026096 | ||
GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
On December 1, 2016 at approximately 2:15 PM, a woman accidentally left her wallet behind after paying for her groceries at Price Less Foods, located at 1328 South John B. Dennis Highway in Kingsport. By the time she realized her mistake and returned to retrieve it, the wallet had already been stolen. Among the items in her wallet were her driver license, her debit card, and some cash.
She immediately canceled her debit card, but not before an unidentified suspect used it fraudulently at an unknown Redbox DVD rental kiosk. Investigating officers were able to obtain the included photo from surveillance video of a person of interest believed to be involved in the theft of the wallet and/or fraudulent use of the debit card. She appears to be a white female with dark hair. While the photograph is of rather inferior clarity, K.P.D. is asking for anyone who recognizes her to contact Detectives in the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link: https://www.kingsporttn.gov/city-services/police-department/contact-us |
