Engage Kingsport hosting Plein Air workshop
Engage Kingsport is partnering with the Kingsport Art Guild to offer a special one-day Plein Air workshop this Saturday by local artist Renee Pitts.
The workshop will take place on May 4 at Warriors’ Path State Park and include two sessions: 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Participants can register for either session or attend both.
Basic materials will be provided or feel free to bring your own. During each session, Pitts will demonstrate the process and techniques involved in plein air painting. To register, please visit www.kingsportartguild.com.
Plein Air painting is the act of painting outdoors where artists capture the natural light and scenery of the outdoors, while completing the artwork in one session. The artistic practice dates back centuries but was popularized in the 19th century by French impressionists.
