Eastman to Conduct Annual Hazmat Drill Nov. 14 and 15
A note to residents in Kingsport, TN
As part of Eastman’s ongoing commitment to the safety of our team members, operations, and community members, the Kingsport site will conduct a series of tests of its internal alerting systems on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 14-15. We will conduct site-wide testing of our hazardous vapor release alerting system to ensure our emergency preparedness systems are operating properly. Testing will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. on both days. The annual test will include the activation of Eastman’s blue light alert and alarm systems.
In addition to the HVR test, Eastman will conduct an accountability drill, in coordination with Sullivan County Emergency Management and Kingsport Fire Department, on Nov. 15, 1-3 p.m. The drill will simulate a rail emergency along Lincoln Street across the street from Eastman’s manufacturing site and is part of our ongoing collaboration with local officials to ensure we are prepared for an emergency situation.
These activities may be noticed by site neighbors.
