Kingsport announces inaugural Gingerbread House Contest
The City of Kingsport is inviting bakers, families, artists and holiday enthusiasts to showcase their confectionery creativity in its inaugural Gingerbread House Contest.
To ensure everyone can participate in this festive event, the contest will feature multiple divisions, including Kids (5-8) and (9-12), Teen (13–17), Adult (18+) and Professional. One winner will be selected from each division.
Participants can bake entries from scratch or use pre-made kits. All creations must have the major components of a gingerbread house, such as walls and a roof. The houses must be constructed of only edible materials except for the base and accessories around the structure.
“The Gingerbread House contest was a tradition for many years in Kingsport, and we’re thrilled to bring it back to the community to enjoy this Christmas season,” said Communications Specialist Sara Nowell. “It’s the perfect activity for the whole family. So, start baking and get those creative energies cooking.”
Completed gingerbread houses must be delivered to the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center on November 12 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. All entries will be on display in the Convention Center hallway beginning November 13.
Voting will take place in person via QR code from November 13 through November 29. The highest vote count will determine the winner for each division.
