Join the Symphony of the Mountains at Allandale Mansion for their special ‘Music at the Mansion’ concert on Sunday, July 29th! Bring your own blanket and lawn chairs for an evening of colorful music from Big Band to Bluegrass. A special musical guest, ShadowGrass, will join the Symphony of the Mountains in a concert that won’t soon be forgotten.
Each year, the symphony encourages people to decorate their picnic area with a special theme. This year, the theme is “Colors of the Mountains.” At the concert intermission, the Women’s Symphony Committee Honorees visit each of the registered picnic areas for judging. The picnic area winner gets a special little trophy and two season passes to the symphony!
Concert goers can bring coolers and snacks. The Beer Run in Kingsport will also be hosting a beer garden for the event.
The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. To purchase your tickets, please visit www.symphonyofthemountains.org or call 423-392-8423.

Following the retirement of Sandy Crawford, Brent Morelock was promoted to Procurement Manager for the City of Kingsport. Procurement is a critical process affecting every service the city contracts, from construction projects to website design and more. Morelock’s standard of an efficient and effective procurement process is getting the best quality for the best price in the best interest of taxpayers and recipients of city services.
Morelock is credentialed as a Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) as well as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) by the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council which is accredited by the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management.
Morelock has over 20 years of public and private sector procurement experience having spent the last 12 years in the city’s Procurement Department. He maintains professional memberships with the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, the Tennessee Association of Public Purchasing and the East Tennessee Purchasing Association.
“I appreciate the opportunity to serve,” Morelock added, “and will uphold the strong ethical precedent established by my predecessors of free, fair, and open competition when soliciting bids and proposals for the purpose of public procurement. All bids and proposals will receive equal, fair and non-preferential treatment throughout the entire procurement process and shall be uniformly solicited, evaluated and awarded on a non-discriminatory basis in accordance with the city’s code of ordinances as well as state and federal law when applicable.”
Morelock is a Kingsport native, a graduate of Sullivan North High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University. He and his wife Lisa, who is an RN, reside in Kingsport. They have one son, Gavin, who attends Kingsport City Schools.
