Searching for the Netherland Inn descendants
The Netherland Inn Steering Committee is asking the community for help in identifying the descendants of the residents and property owners of Old Kingsport from 1800 to 1825.
The purpose of the search is to invite them to an event to be held at the Netherland Inn.
Below is a list of known residents and property owners who formed the community around the Netherland Inn at the beginning of the 19th century.
From property records and other original documents, the committee has a list of 81 names of the people living in the community. The committee has sent the list to numerous groups and has posted it to its Facebook page. To date, the committee has located about 10 descendants.
Now, they need your help in locating more.
“This is the time when the people came together to petition the state to become the town of Kingsport in 1822. Our goal is to invite the descendants to an event at the Inn,” said Glenda Bobalik, chair of the Netherland Inn Steering Committee.
For more information about the search or to report a possible descendant, contact Glenda Bobalik at glenda.bobalik@gmail.com or call 423-483-0932.
