SUBJECT: Reminder!! Usage of Fireworks is Illegal Inside Kingsport City Limits

GENERAL NARRATIVE
The Kingsport Police Department issues this notice to remind residents that the City of Kingsport strictly prohibits the use, sale, or possession of fireworks within city limits under Municipal Ordinance 42-112, regardless of the holiday or perceived safety. It is unlawful for any person to manufacture, use, discharge, or sell fireworks, with violations carrying a fine of $149.75 per count.
Residents are encouraged to attend the professionally licensed Red, White, and Boom Independence Day Celebration, which features a legal fireworks display in Downtown Kingsport. This event will be held on July 4th between 7:00p.m. and 10:00p.m. on Main Street in the Centennial Park area.
Citizens are asked not to call 911 for fireworks disturbances unless there is an immediate emergency, such as a fire or injury; instead, report issues to the non-emergency dispatch number at (423) 246-9111.
