Milligan University returns for Challenger League Basketball program
Kingsport Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Milligan University Women’s Basketball team to offer a special program later this month.
The event is the A.S.P.I.R.E. Challenger League Basketball program, and it will be held on October 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages.
A.S.P.I.R.E. programs (Adaptive: Sports, Recreation, and Inclusive Recreation Experiences) are for people with disabilities or physical limitations and are designed to ensure fair and equal competition among participants.
Participants will learn and practice the basics of basketball, including shooting, dribbling and ball handling.
“Milligan University has done this program for several years and we greatly appreciate them coming over and working with our ASPIRE players,” said Program Administrator Renee Ensor. “The players always make sure the program is just a fun day of basketball.”
Though the event is free, you can register to let Kingsport Parks and Recreation officials know approximately how many people will be showing up. Participants can also show up the day of the event and join in.
