Membership change at Kingsport’s Dogwood Park
In an effort to streamline membership rates and to provide greater value to residents, the Kingsport Dogwood Park is adjusting its membership structure.
Dogwood Park is moving from a fiscal year membership structure to memberships being valid for one year from the sign-up date. Now, no matter when you join you and your furry friends will have an entire year of membership at the park to run, play and socialize with other dogs (and owners).
“The old structure was not user-friendly nor cost effective for some dog owners,” said Program Administrator Laura Williams. “Now, all members and their dogs will have a full year of access for one low cost.”
Dog parks provide a variety of benefits for both dogs and their owners. The parks give dogs an opportunity to run and play with fellow dogs off-leash, to explore a large, new environment and to socialize with other dogs (and their owners).
Dog parks also give us humans a chance to socialize with other humans and enjoy a break from our daily routine.
The annual membership rate to join Kingsport’s Dogwood Park is as follows:
- City residents: $25 for the first dog and $15 for each additional dog.
- Non-city residents: $30 for the first dog and $20 for each additional dog.
The park’s gate is controlled by an app that is available to dog park members that allows for easy accessibility. Access cards will still be available for an additional charge.

Kingsport opened Dogwood Park (800 Granby Road) in December 2008. Located beside Hunter Wright Stadium, the three-acre park provides an off leash, fenced recreation area where dogs can run, play and socialize with other dogs.
The park is divided into two sections – 2.5 acres for large dogs and .5 acres for smaller dogs. Dogwood Park is secured by a keyless entry system and features restrooms, water fountains, doggie waste stations, benches and dog agility equipment.
