| SUBJECT: | Teenager Critically Injured in Fall from Moving Vehicle | |||

| GENERAL NARRATIVE | ||||
| On September 12, 2021 at approximately 8:00 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to the area of Patriot Way at Tri-Cities Crossing in Kingsport in reference to a teenage falling from a moving vehicle. Due to the seriousness of injuries involved, the K.P.D. Traffic Unit responded to investigate. Their findings thus far are as follows:
A silver 2006 Ford F-150 pickup was traveling along Patriot Way. The vehicle was driven by a 16 year old male juvenile with a second 16 year old male juvenile riding in the back seat. For reasons still under investigation, a third 16 year old male juvenile was either sitting on the passenger door window sill or clinging to the outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was not involved in a collision; however, at some point, the third juvenile fell from the vehicle and struck his head on the pavement. The victim sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted by Wings Air Rescue to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment. As of the time of issuance of this news release, he remains hospitalized in critical conditions. This incident remains under open and active investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit with the possibility of charges pending. As such, no further details will be released at this time. |
