SUBJECT:  Suspected Drunk Driver Disrupts Operations At Eastman

GENERAL NARRATIVE

On October 21, 2023, at approximately 3:20 PM, the Kingsport Police Department was notified that a man driving a white Chevrolet Trailblazer had crashed through Gate 7 at Eastman Chemical, which is located on Lincoln Street at Konnarock Road. The Chevrolet then continued driving through Eastman property. Eastman was placed on lockdown as a result of unauthorized entry. Shortly after being notified, officers arrived on scene and located the Chevrolet Trailblazer with the driver inside. Officers ordered the male driver, later identified as Eric Wall, out of the vehicle several times. Wall refused to exit the car, and officers and Eastman fire reported that they heard what they believed to be a gunshot come from the vehicle. Officers continued to ask Wall to exit the vehicle, but he remained inside the driver’s seat. KPD Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) was called to the scene to assist. SWAT was able to arrest Wall without incident. Wall had signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence. Officers searched the Trailblazer and didn’t locate a firearm, but did locate illicit drugs. Wall was booked into the Kingsport City Jail for driving under the influence, felony vandalism, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, aggravated criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, possession of schedule II drug for resale, possession of schedule I for resale, possession of schedule IV for resale, simple possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
