NEWS RELEASE | ||||
SUBJECT: | Suspect Sought in Pickup Truck Theft | |||
DATE: | January 28, 2022 | |||
CASE #: | 22-001062 | |||
GENERAL NARRATIVE | ||||
On January 18, 2022 at approximately 7:00 PM, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup was stolen while it was parked and unoccupied, with the keys left inside of it, in the parking lot of East Stone Commons, located at 2003 North Eastman Road in Kingsport.
The following afternoon, the vehicle was recovered, abandoned in the parking lot of a downtown Kingsport apartment complex. A review of surveillance footage revealed video showing what appeared to be a white male adult suspect walking away from the truck after parking it. A photo of the suspect, taken from that footage, has been included in this release. A clip of the actual footage has also been made available for viewing on the K.P.D. YouTube Channel via the link below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLhLkherxo0 Anyone who recognizes this individual is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link: http://police.KingsportTN.gov/Citizen_Feedback As motor vehicle theft remains on the rise nationwide, the Kingsport Police Department continues to stress the importance of locking vehicles and removing the keys (or key fob for push to start vehicles) to help prevent this type of crime. |
