NEWS RELEASE | |||
SUBJECT: | Quick Change Scam Artists Strike Wal-Mart Again
DATE: | September 30, 2016
CASE #: | 16-018434 | ||
GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
On August 28, 2016 at approximately 3:15 PM, two black male con artists swindled a cashier at Wal-Mart, located at 2500 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. While making a purchase, one of the suspects deceptively used a disputed change scheme to trick the cashier into giving him $900 in change that he was not due. The other suspect stood watch and deliberately distracted the clerk to assist his partner with the ruse. The duo left the scene in a white full-size conversion van.
Photos of the suspects and their vehicle taken from surveillance video footage have been included in this release. Anyone who recognizes them is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111. Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link: http://police.KingsportTN.gov/Citizen_Feedback Detectives are looking into the distinct possibility that these suspects may be the same individuals, or at least in some way connected to the individuals, who committed a virtually identical offense at the other Kingsport Wal-Mart location in March of this year.
