GENERAL NARRATIVE
On September 28th, 2024 at approximately 2:15 PM the Kingsport Police Department responded to a vehicle crash on Riverport Rd. near Wilcox Dr. The subsequent investigation revealed that a White Toyota Pickup truck struck a Gray Ford Ecosport on Riverport Rd. Both vehicles went off the roadway and entered the river. All occupants were able to exit the vehicles and reach safety. Due to the high water levels, the vehicles were not recovered and may be visible to passing motorists. They were left in the river until the recovery can be accomplished safely.
KPD wishes to remind motorists to use caution when traveling as the recent weather events have created hazardous conditions throughout the region to include flooded roadways, downed trees, and downed power lines. Drive slowly, avoid areas with standing water, and obey any road detour signage.
