SUBJECT: KPD investigates fatal crash

GENERAL NARRATIVE

On May 2^nd, 2024 at approximately 10:45 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Fort Henry Dr. and Moreland Dr.  Due to the serious nature of the crash, KPD Traffic Investigators were summoned to the scene.  Their initial investigation revealed the following:  A 2013 Toyota Tundra driven by William Wimbish (age 64) was traveling north on Ft. Henry Dr. making a left turn to Moreland Dr. A 2008 Kawasaki ZXJ motorcycle driven by Steven Sexton (age 34) was traveling south on Ft. Henry Dr. as the Tundra was making the turn.  Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle ran the red light at the intersection striking the truck.  Due to injuries sustained in the crash, Mr. Sexton was transported to an area hospital where he later died.  This crash remains under active review by KPD Traffic Investigators.
