| SUBJECT: | Kingsport Police Investigating Serious Collision Between Car and Motorcycle | ||

| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On June 14, 2019 at approximately 1:45 PM certified Crash Reconstructionists with the Kingsport Police Department Traffic Unit investigated a motor vehicle collision between a car and a motorcycle on Memorial Boulevard at the intersection with Conway Drive in Kingsport. Their findings thus far are as follows:
A red 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by Donnie L. Brown, and also ridden by additional passenger, Matonya G. Brown (both of Kingsport), was eastbound on Memorial Boulevard approaching the intersection with Conway Drive. Meanwhile, a white 2012 Chevrolet Impala 4-door sedan, driven by Harold S. Jones (also of Kingsport), was northbound on Conway Drive approaching the same intersection. Mr. Jones failed to yield the right-of-way and pulled his vehicle into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the Chevrolet, resulting in both riders being thrown from the motorcycle. Mr. and Mrs. Brown sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and were transported by Sullivan County E.M.S. to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment. As of the time of issuance of this news release, they both remain hospitalized in critical condition. Mr. Jones was not injured in the crash. This collision remains under open and active investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit with charges pending. As such, no additional information can or will be released at this time. |
