| SUBJECT: | K.P.D. Vice Unit Search Warrant Nets Two Arrests on Drug and Weapons Charges | ||

| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On September 1, 2016 at approximately 10:00 AM, the Kingsport Police Department Vice and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Benjamin A. Flanary and Travis S. Tanner, located at 1520 Lake Street in Kingsport. This warrant was served, with assistance from the K.P.D. S.W.A.T. Team, in response to an ongoing investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking in and around this residence.
During the subsequent search of the residence, the following items were located and seized: 1) Approximately 2 ounces of cocaine in both crack and powder form 2) Approximately 2 pounds of marijuana 3) Several unmarked bottles containing pills believed to be Roxicodone 4) Numerous items of paraphernalia associated with the use, packaging, and distribution of illegal drugs 5) Over $25,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales 6) Three firearms including a 9mm caliber pistol, a .22 caliber rifle, and a 12 gauge shotgun Mr. Flanary and Mr. Tanner were home at the time the warrant was served and were promptly arrested and charged with the following criminal offenses: 1) Possession of a Schedule II Drug for Resale within 1,000 feet of a School (2 Counts: Count 1 for Cocaine, Count 2 for Roxicodone) 2) Possession of a Schedule VI Drug (Marijuana) for Resale within 1,000 feet of a School 3) Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony 4) Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia Both suspects were transported to, and incarcerated within, the Kingsport City Jail. At a subsequent arraignment, bond was set for each individual at $50,000 by the presiding judge. Mr. Flanary was later released after posting bond; however, Mr. Tanner was transferred to the Sullivan County Jail in Blountville in lieu of bond. |
