SUBJECT: | K.P.D. Detectives Investigating Marcum’s Pharmacy Burglary
DATE: | November 28, 2018
CASE #: | 18-031811 | ||
GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
On November 25, 2018, shortly after 4:00 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to a report of an alarm at Marcum’s Pharmacy, located at 121 East Ravine Road in Kingsport. Responding Officers discovered that an exterior door had been pried open and an external alarm speaker had been tampered with.
A search of the interior of the business revealed that the pharmacy had been ransacked; however, the suspect had already fled the scene. An employee arrived at the pharmacy and determined that approximately $25,000 worth of assorted prescription narcotics had been stolen from a cabinet. A review of surveillance video footage revealed that a lone suspect, dressed in dark clothing from head to toe to mask his identity, had executed the burglary. Once he forced entry and activated the alarm, he was only inside the pharmacy for about 90 seconds before fleeing with the stolen medications. Photos of the suspect, taken from the aforementioned surveillance footage, have been included in this release. A clip of the actual footage has also been made available for viewing on the K.P.D.
