| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On September 15, 2020 at approximately 8:20 PM Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 1500 block of Fairview Avenue in Kingsport. Due to the serious nature of the crash, the K.P.D. Traffic Unit was called to the scene. Their investigation thus far has revealed the following:
A white 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe full-size sport utility vehicle, driven and solely occupied by Anthony S. White, was southbound on Fairview Avenue when two pedestrians, one of whom was Melissa D. Brandon, crossed the road in his path. Ms. Brandon was struck by the Tahoe. She was transported by Sullivan County E.M.S. to an area medical facility for emergency treatment of serious/life-threatening injuries. Mr. White was not injured. This incident occurred after sunset, and the pedestrians appear to have crossed Fairview Avenue mid-block, neither at a crosswalk nor at an intersection. As of the time of issuance of this news release, Ms. Brandon remains hospitalized in critical condition. This crash remains under active investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit. As such, no further details are available for release at this time. |
